(Wilmington, NC November 10th 2007)- The 1st annual "King of the Street" took place behind 17th Street Surf Shop. The format was the game of skate, only these games included ramps, rails, benches, and a fun box. The competitors could use what they wanted to try and eliminate the competition!
All the skaters got a 1 hour open session before the start of the event and a 10 minute warm up before their round started. Everyone was pushing each other and the result was some great skating. The crowd cheered as each skater pulled some sick airs, grinds, and technical street moves. Hamburger Joe's served up some great food for all in attendance, and Surf 98.3 came out with a live broadcast from the event.
In the end there can only be one king and Brett Arendse, Scott Oxendine, and Scott Walker where crowned the "King of the Street" in their respective division.
Many thanks to everyone who came out to support the skaters, to 17th Street, Ezekiel, Dragon, Osiris, Grind King, Surf 98.3 and Hamburger Joe's for helping this event become a success.
Look for us back again next year to see who will try to dethrone the 17th Street "Kings of the Street"!
